About Me:

Hello! I am Sydney Alvelda - actor, producer, occasional poet and somebody who tried very hard to be anything else first. (Believe me, I mean anything else — Biology, Mathematics, Linguistics) yet, acting was inevitable.

I was born in Berkeley, grew up in DC, and now I’m lucky to call New York home —- where I'm currently training as a BFA student at NYU Tisch, studying at the Atlantic Acting School and Stonestreet Studios. But wherever I find myself, I am constantly enraptured by language — the form of expression we are irrevocably bound to. Words are inescapable and simple and complex and beautiful all at once --- this is why Shakespeare is, and always will be, my first love.

When I’m not opining about Shakespeare’s economy of language, I’m probably chasing the feeling of wanting to read a really good book, picking the best parmesan cheese from a gourmet market, or blasting music with the windows down on a curvy road.
